Who doesn’t like thinking back to those innocent days of summer, sipping on an ice cold loganberry or doing your best to pick the tastiest flavor out of myriad selections of Crystal Beach suckers prominently displayed on those spinning, wooden stands? The recollection of tastes and memories still manage to exist for many of us to this day.
If this rings true to you, well, then I’ve got some great news; this past weekend, Crystal Beach introduced for the first time, sparkling loganberry. Now this may seem like a deviation from the true authentic nature of what we’ve come to know and love, but it might actually be considered “New and Improved”. See, the recipe for this new drink replaces the high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar, giving the iconic beverage a much appreciated, refreshing upgrade, along with a boost of carbonation.
Local beverage blog, ThirstyDudes.com recently reviewed Crystal Beach Sparkling Loganberry, giving a spot on assessment. “While this is a sparkling drink, it’s very lightly carbonated which is really nice. The cane sugar also makes it very light and lets the loganberry flavor shine through. All my life I’ve been drinking loganberry that was drowning in corn syrup, so it’s nice to finally be able to taste loganberry for what it is. I think this drink has a little something for everyone. If you grew up on loganberry, you need to try this. If you’ve never liked loganberry because it was too sweet, pick up a bottle and see if you like this because it’s much different that any loganberry you’ve ever tasted.”
And, what great timing. Currently, Tops Super Market is stocking this item, but hopefully other local retailers will follow suit, especially by the time the weather really begins to warm up.
