The Pierce-Arrow Film Arts Center (see BRO article) is starting to make a name for itself in the local media scene. The latest project to be shot there elevates their exposure from the local to the national level with local band City Under Siege shooting its latest music video there. The video is slated to air on mtvU and Fuse but Buffalonian’s can get a sneak peek this Wednesday at Helium Comedy Club at 6pm.
Local film maker Matthew Lorentz directed the video and tells me that it consists of only 5 shots with hidden cuts so that in the end it will look like one long continuous shot. The premise behind the video (the song as of now is still untitled) follows a man who is passing out flyers to people that he meets and as he does this we see a colorful, eclectic hodgepodge of people begin to follow him. Eventually the content of the flyer is revealed to the audience and we see that it’s an invite to the video shoot.
The video features almost all local talent from Buffalo and the surrounding area. An overwhelmingly successful casting call was sent out via Facebook where they asked for people with unique and special talents to come and audition. The video will air alongside a special re-peat screening of the local film B.O.Y.D. (also directed by Matthew Lorentz) at 6pm this Wednesday February 20th at the Helium Comedy Club located at 30 Mississippi Street.
This event is open to the public and tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Helium website www.heliumcomedy.com/buffalo.
