The Honor Thy Country concert series is a great example of what can happen when the right people and organizations come together. It’s collaborations such as this, that make me so proud to have moved back to Buffalo some years ago. This monthly concert series at The Sportsmens, brought to you by the Good Neighborhood and Genesee Beer, showcases some of the most popular and beloved Buffalo bands all in support of Honor Flight Buffalo. This volunteer effort raises funds for hundreds of World War II Veterans, so that they may travel to the memorials honoring them in Washington DC.
“Honor Thy Country connects Good Neighbors from different backgrounds with a common goal – giving our veterans, especially those who served in World War II, the well-earned chance to stand before the memorials made in their honor,” said The Good Neighborhood founder Seamus Gallivan. “From Sportsmens owner and proud Marine Dwane Hall, to the good folks at Genesee Beer, to these great bands, we are born and brewed in Western New York and grateful for the service and sacrifice of the veterans who are our neighbors, and we’re exercising our freedom to have a boatload of fun while raising funds for their flights.”
Now, part three of this incredible concert series focuses on none other than Sportmens owner Dwane Hall, and his longtime band, Stone Country. You will be able to catch them next Friday, Februrary 22nd, and admission is only $5, with Genesee draft specials all night long.
This is surely one not to miss – Hall himself is a Veteran and this cause is near and dear to his heart. Plus he brings 40+ years of musical experience to the stage, and that will undoubtedly bring the house down!
The remaining shows, each with their own country/Americana approaches are:
-Flatbed (5:30) and Stone Country (9:30) on Friday, February 22nd;
-The Steam Donkeys on Saturday, March 16th; and
-Tommy Brunett and the Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza on Friday, April 12th.
