If you had asked me which Buffalo restaurant would be represented at the Super Bowl, I probably would not have guessed Seabar. Maybe that’s because I would have figured on a wing joint, as wings are synonymous with Buffalo. Same with Beef on Weck. That’s why I was surprised to hear that Seabar had been chosen to represent Buffalo, along with a host of restaurants from every other state around the country.
When it comes to the “Taste of the NFL”, the honor of representing a hometown is fairly prestigious. This weekend Seabar will set up a table at the New Orleans Convention and do its part to raise money for foodbanks in order to combat hunger relief. Seabar’s Mike Andrzejewski and Daniel Kirby will be preparing Beef on Weck sushi rolls and a hamachi sashimi for close to 2000 football and food fans on Saturday, which might also come as a surprise those attending.
In the end, once they taste the offerings from Seabar, they will hopefully come away with a sense that there’s a lot more to the Buffalo culinary scene than chicken wings, and that’s a good thing.
