Did you ever stop to wonder how our libraries are able to provide free materials and services to the public on an ongoing basis? Our libraries are constantly searching for new funding sources in order to keep current. There are a number of different fundraising mechanisms that the system relies on, as it faces brutal budget cuts.
On Friday, November 16, Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries will be hosting an inaugural fundraising event called What’s Black and White and Read All Over? The event is being held at the Hotel @ The Lafayette’s Grand Ballroom, which is a draw unto itself.
While our hands are tied with the ongoing budget cuts, there is something that we can do to make a difference. Join in and help to fund The Libraries, along with their newly formed Young Professionals Group, by attending this very special and well-deserving event. Our libraries service 17,000 patrons daily, which means that there is a heavy load when it comes to operational funding. Please consider attending this first time fundraiser that aims to alleviate the financial burden that our library system faces each and every day.
