Buffalo First! unveiled its new partially completed photographic mural project on Grant Street earlier today. The mural profiles are depictions of a number of Grant Street business owners, and is a tribute to shopping local this holiday season.
The permanent wheatpaste-style murals, displayed on the Sweet_ness 7 building (corner of Grant and Lafayette) feature the works of photographer Max Collins who was one of the three artists who participated in the impressive mural that was commissioned by the 500-Block of Main Street this summer (seen here). Owner of Sweet_ness 7, Prish Moran, is one of the subjects featured on the building (see photo below – standing with Max).
The next mural to be unveiled on Grant Street will be on the People United for Sustainable Housing building – work is scheduled to begin soon. That artwork will feature the three artists that worked on the 500-Block piece – see link above (Matt Grote, Chuck Tingley and Max Collins). This mural team (or components of it) is certainly making its mark on Buffalo, and will continue to change the face of urban buildings, one by one.
