“Give Local A Chance” with an artistic twist!

By: Sherri Wierzba
The annual “Give Local A Chance” campaign kicks off tomorrow, November 21st, at 10AM outside of Sweetness 7 Café. Sweetness 7 Café is located on the corner of Grant Street and Lafayette Avenue in Buffalo. All are welcome to attend the press event and unveiling of the mural of local independent Grant Street proprietors by local artist Max Collins (image).
Continuing on with the “Give Local A Chance” theme, Buffalo First! is promoting a series of upcoming “buy local” activities and events, including “Pop-Up Shops”, a local marketplace full of independent artisans, artists, vendors and established local businesses, at MAIN (ST)UDIOS, 515 Main Street, on Saturday, December 1st, 12-8PM. Come out and shop three floors of pop-up shops and on-the-hour presentations from local businesses, artists, and musicians. The Pop-Up Shops are located one block from the Tree Lighting Celebration (Fountain Plaza) taking place at 6PM and run in conjunction with the Rock the Blocks Holiday Block Party on MainStreet (Huron to Mohawk) from 12-8PM.
Let’s celebrate our local business districts and remind everyone to Give Local a Chance this holiday season! For more local businesses district holiday activities and the top 10 reasons to support your local economy this holiday season, check out the Buffalo First website at www.buffalofirst.org/givelocalachance.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
