Buffalo, New York: The Best Maligned Place

On this beautiful Saturday morning, we all have a fun reading (and viewing) assignment. Take a look at this post from Dave Seminara and take a trip back into time. Learn about what real hometown pride is. And while you’re learning about hometown pride, check out some of the nostalgic promotional videos that our city has unleashed over the years. Until today I had never seen that crazy Boost Buffalo Jingle – “Boost Buffalo, it’s good for you. The most modern expressways… Buffalo deserves your appreciation… it’s the finest hometown in the nation… Boost Buffalo, Boost Buffalo.” Plus, there are some fascinating photos to go along with the overzealous jingle – notice how dirty City Hall was back then?

From Dave:
“I’ve moved more than a dozen times since I left Buffalo for college at 17. I’ve traveled to more than 50 foreign countries and 40 U.S. States and have lived in five countries and seven states. But Buffalo is the only place that I return to at least once every year. My family keeps me coming back, but even if they skipped town, I’d still come back at least once a year. Why?”
