Sneak Peek at Illuminate AK

For those of you who need a tantalizing visual in order to get excited about an event or a project, take a look at this teaser that the Albright-Knox has sent along. This is an example of what the Illuminate AK event will look like on October 5 (see details here). The difference is that instead of seeing a static image, like the one seen here, the show will be a constantly rotating series of projected images that will take viewers on a trip through the history of the gallery – its players and its artists (and their works). Just thinking about some of the works of art in the collection, and how they would look in a 3-dimensional configuration on the Gala Waters side of the gallery… this is going to be one breathtaking event.

From my last post:

From 7:30-8:30pm, a 30,000-lumen projector will be aimed at the facade of the building and the efforts of a large-scale 3D video projection mapping project will be viewable. In essence, the entire face of the gallery will be illuminated by a 3D video that will transform the building into a living spectacle.

Albright-Knox Curator for the Collection Holly E. Hughes and Digital Media Manager Kelly Carpenter will be working closely with video-mapping artist Daniel Hartnett who has created projections for music artists such as David Bowie and The Beastie Boys.
