Mercedes-Benz of Buffalo Fashion Week (MBBFW) started off in a big way down on Chippewa this past Saturday, September 20th 2012.
The first sign of this big event was Ooo La La Boutique’s new pink mobile store, bringing with it all of the delights of fall fashion. This was probably the first time I watched a complete MBBFW fashion show without being apart of the back stage excitement, which gave me a new perspective of the entire affair. The big ticket show was at LUX Nightclub (75 West Chippewa Street), which was packed for the entire bikini-clad event. Each year the Buffalo runways get more and more exciting, and this year was no exception – the crowd was lively all the way to the end, with mobs of people surrounding the catwalk on all sides. Even the second floor was standing room only, filled with fashionable spectators watching from above as they leaned against the railings and lounged about on couches.
The atmosphere was definitely fashion savvy and you could find quite a few people dressed to the nines – a sight that I always enjoy… it’s nice to see spectators get into the act. From where I was standing, I could see over 10 photographers flashing their cameras – the more cameras and overall attention from the crowd helped to excite everyone involved, and the female models were having a great time working the crowd in their sexy swimwear while the fellas showed off their muscles. The MBBFW ladies (see below) were definitely dressed to impress in their all-black designer outfits.
Less than 12 hours later, on Sunday afternoon in the Walden Galleria Mall, those driven and unified ladies of MBBFW were at it again. The mall fashion shows for Old Navy, Macy’s and Bebe created added publicity for the fashion scene in Buffalo, NY. I’m sure the Canadian shoppers enjoyed the shows as well… while we mainly promote the local boutique scene at BRO, we also understand that mainstream fashion is important and provides all of us with the ability to pick up clothing and accessories options that only the larger department stores and chain clothing stores can offer. MBBFW does a good job highlighting a nice cross-section of the fashion scene here in Buffalo.
