If you’re into comics, then we’ve got a great event for you. Comics Fest is held each year at the Central Library in Downtown Buffalo, and it’s the best place to be for aspiring comic artists to show off their goods. It’s also a great place to be for anyone who’s really into the local and national comic scene. Each year Comics Fest attracts all sort of comic fans, including many who appear in costume. While some may take comics lightly, there are those who are extremely serious about the business. This year there will be plenty of talented comic illustrators on-hand, including Graham Nolan (creator of “Bane” in “Batman,””The Phantom” on Sundays, and syndicated comic “Rex Morgan, MD”) and Kyle Kaczmarczyk (WWII zombie anthologies FUBAR and horror comedy “Igor: Occult Detective”).
For those who think that they have got what it takes to enter into the world of comic illustrating, this is your chance to shine. Below is all that you need to know in order to get started – whether you’re a local amateur or a pro, Comics Fest awaits your submissions. Let’s show comic fans that Buffalo has talented comic artists who are ready to compete for prizes and praises.

Free and open to the public – costumes encouraged!
Here are the details to enter the contest…
Submit up to 3 drawings to be competitively judged by age group. Drawing Contest winning artwork will be displayed at the Library during Comics Fest. Original art (no copies or tracings, please) will be judged in the following categories with prizes awarded:
Ages 7-11: Drawing/Art Kit prize
Ages 12-17: $100 gift certificate to Hyatt’s Art Supply prize
Ages 18-adult: $100 gift certificate to Hyatt’s Art Supply prize
Drawing entries should be no larger than 11″ x 17″ and must be received at the Downtown Library no later than October 4th to be considered by the expert panel of judges, who will determine winners based on precision, style and originality. There is no charge to participate.
Submissions must include:
artist’s name,
artist’s age,
contact information,
title or description of each artwork.
Artwork may be picked up at the downtown Library after October 6.
