Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB) will be hosting their second annual Creative Conversation on Saturday, October 13 at the Buffalo Arts Studio. This event is ELAB’s biggest function of the year and will support the organization’s mission to bring exposure to emerging artists in the city, while providing an evening of entertainment for guests.
“This year’s theme of ‘Emergence’ is twofold. It not only acknowledges the emergence of ELAB, but it also references the up-and-coming emerging artist scene in the city of Buffalo,” said Rich Tomasello of ELAB. “We would like all art forms to be recognized and given a voice, including performance, theater, visual, sound, music, poetry, spoken word, etc.”
A preliminary call for work is now being sent out to all of Buffalo’s artists on the rise. Any artist who submits work should be a newer or emerging artist in Buffalo who is seeking exposure within the local arts community and the public at large. The deadline for material submissions will be October 1. Work can be submitted electronically, such as links to websites or YouTube clips, as long as it can be easily reviewed. Included should be an artist statement and links to visual or auditory examples of work. Electronic submissions can be sent to Tomasello via email at richardtomasello@gmail.com. Should an artist need to mail in a physical submission, such as a CD or DVD, it can be sent to 464 Gallery c/o Rich Tomasello, 464 Amherst Street, Buffalo, NY, 14207.
The Creative Conversation event will be hosted from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Buffalo Arts Studio, located in the Tri-Main Building at 2495 Main Street, Suite 500. Throughout the evening, participating artists will be sharing the inspiration behind their creative work. The event will include hors d’oeuvres and cash bar, with a suggested $5 donation at the door.
