Calling all high school and college students heading in the direction of the music industry. On June 26 a number of local music professionals will be hosting a panel discussion that is designed to help get students off to the right start by avoiding some of the well-known pitfalls in the industry. At the same time, the professional panel will answer questions related to marketing, touring, managing and the music business in general. After all, we’re not talking about a profession that is the most structured when it comes to daily routine, job security… this is not like entering into an office environment where there are mentors and managers to help guide you.
While the mentoring panel may be of great interest, students will also get the opportunity to check out Robby Takac’s (GooGoo Dolls) GCR Audio, which is where the event is being held. Grammy nominated engineer and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Vice President Anthony Casuccio will be the moderator for the one hour session that is scheduled to run from 3:00 – 4:00pm.
GCR Audio, 564 Franklin Ave, Buffalo, NY 14202.
· Chris Ring – After Dark promoter
· Artie Kwitchoff – owner and operator of the Town Ballroom (both Chris and Artie play a role in bringing music to the waterfront)
· Bruce Moser who has promoted and started careers for artists such as U2, Goo Goo Dolls, and Bryan Adams
· Seamus Gallivan – founder of The Good Neighborhood
Event is open to high school and college students. Seating is limited so an RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org is needed to reserve a spot. Please respond by Monday, June 25. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions.
