Where are you from originally?
I am originally from Buffalo and have never left and never intend to.
How has Buffalo influenced your work?
It is a great place with a wonderful mix of equally as great people.
What is your medium?
I make jewelry and when I can get some “previously loved” old pieces, I incorporate them into my work.
Is there a purpose to your artwork?
I guess you can consider it a small tribute to the people/women that came to Buffalo to begin with…
Name an artist (or more) that most inspires you?
One of my biggest inspirations is Betsy Johnson who had a life changing medical experience that changed her entire attitude towards life. That’s why my motto at Nanny Goat
Jewels is ‘FUN…FUNKY…FABULOUS!’
How often do you work on your art?
I try to make jewelry as much as my full time job will allow as it allows me to create something beautiful that others can enjoy as much as I do.
What is your preferred subject matter?
I love color and fun to make people “perk up” with what they get from me. They should not be afraid to step of the box and enjoy life by either “being or wearing a work of art”.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I put on music and disappear in my beads and ideas!
Have you been schooled in art? Are you planning on attending art school? If so, where?
I am self taught
What is another medium that you would like to learn? Or that you have already learned?
I am also introducing some hair jewelry, better know as “fascinators” that have become quite popular as of late.
Where is your current/next show in the city? Dates? Opening night?
Canal Fest and Quaker Arts Festival and of course I will be at the Saturday Artisan Market (SAM) on July 7 2012.
What’s the best thing about being an artist?
The best thing about being an artist is the satisfaction and creativity it allows me to have.
What’s the worst thing about being an artist?
The worst thing is that there is never enough time for as much as I would like to create!
