What’s going on at 456 Mass Ave?

By Michael Hargrave:
While we’ve been covering a number of West Side advancements as of late, including a number of developments on Massachusetts Avenue, there is one important project that deserves special attention. 456 Massachusetts Avenue, like many of the other People United for Sustainable Houses (PUSH) rehabs, is a great looking restoration project. But it’s more than that. PUSH is currently occupying the storefront and is using the space as the home for its PUSH Green operation.
PUSH Green works to help people interested in making their homes more energy efficient find a way to do so. While they are a subsidiary of PUSH, they are also part of a state wide effort through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to increase home efficiency in order to help reduce energy costs.
Up until now we have been accustomed to PUSH restoring houses and storefronts for the community. In this particular case we see the group occupying its own building while still serving the neighborhood in a fashion that helps people in need to be environmentally conscious while saving money on their utility bills at the same time.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
