Each year the Parkside Community Association rallies the neighborhood together to showcase some of the most beautiful houses in the city. One of the things that I like so much about the Parkside neighborhood is the variety of architecture that one can see from street to street. From bungalows to Victorian’s… there’s even a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece – the Darwin Martin House.
As much as I love The Martin House, I’m a particular fan of the Toshiko Mori visitor’s center – a stunning example of Buffalo’s modern day architecture, and a perfect example as to why we should be commissioning more world renowned architects to join us as we attempt to live up to the building standards set by the masters of our past.
If you’re interested in living in North Buffalo, this is an excellent way to learn about the neighborhood, talk to homeowners, and learn the history of the homes and the residents.
Purchase your Tour of Homes tickets in advance. $13 for PCA members and $15 for non-members. There is also a VIP ticket for $50 – which includes a trolley ride and tour to each home, refreshments on the trolley, and front of the line passes. No waiting in line!
