20 Buffalo restaurants are preparing to enter a contest that is designed to test their ‘mac and cheese’ prowess, by pitting chef against chef in order to declare one the winner with the best recipe. European master cheesemaker, Lactalis, has accepted entries by 20 of the area’s ‘mac and cheese’ hot spots, and will be dropping off cheese kits consisting of seven varieties that will be used to come up with the winning dish. Chefs can opt to use just one, or a combination of the cheeses. Once the chef has concocted the official entry, that exact dish will be served at the respective restaurant during the month of March.
Each time a customer orders the chef’s signature dish, he or she will be asked to take home a unique voting card. From there customers are asked to go online and judge the mac and cheese that they ate. Not only will the ultimate winning recipe garner accolades for the restaurant, the customers all stand chances to win a variety of great prizes. Buffalonians love mac and cheese. From the standard varieties to the gourmet versions, the dish is a staple at eateries all over the city and beyond.
