A long time Elmwood Avenue business has closed its doors. After moving from its original location (where NoNoo Ramen is now) Sweet Tooth set up shop at the corner of Elmwood and Allen. The business operated at that corner for a number of years before announcing this past weekend that it was closing. First I want to say that I am sad to see such a wonderful business close its doors. Sweet Tooth is the ice cream shop that I went to with my father when I was little.
At the same time, since Sweet Tooth originally opened 21 years ago, there has been an influx of sweet shops opening in the Elmwood Village, and some of them also serve ice cream. Sweet Tooth has stated on Facebook that it is closing due to “family health issues, increased expenses, and too much uncertainty.” As much as I am sad to see the business go, it is imperative to see that corner get back up and operational soon. That corner of Elmwood and Allen is a prime commercial space and opens up a real opportunity for another business in Allentown.
That said, I was wondering what Buffalo Rising readers would like to see move into that corner. With Jim’s SteakOut on one corner, Town Restaurant on the other, and Cantina Loco opening on the northeast corner, we need to land a legit business for that newly open space. What should it be?
