The second annual Olmsted Flurrious! winter festival is scheduled to take place on January 21. The festival will kick off at 9am with a Fleet Feet fun run around Delaware Park’s Ring Road (see details). Upon completion of the lap, runners will be treated with live music in the heated tent located in front of the Parkside Lodge. This year’s tent will be 25′ longer in order to accommodate a 12-hour line-up of bands and DJs with a wide range of music including acoustic, rock, folk, jazz, reggae and hip-hop (brought to us by our friends at WAM – Writers, Artists and Musicians).
Set and sign-up activities include softball, kickball, x-country skiing, snowshoeing, a Campus bike loop, an all day Buffalo Pond Hockey Committee expo, family skating (bring your own skates), Uncle Sam’s sled pull competitions, pick-up snow “beach” tennis, Ives Pond quidditch expo, igloo building, snow golf (see details), horse and carriage rides, blacksmith demonstrations, kids’ activities in The Lodge (with fireplace, hot drinks and food), and Brews and Stews brought to you by Blue Monk and Magnolia Events. Buffalo State College Science Education students will be hosting a winter science workshop for children as well.
For more information, stay tuned with reports on Facebook. Also, look for further news on Flurrious! fun updates with an official announcement with complete live music listings, activity time slots, and additional activities. This year the Big Tent is all-ages (get a wristband and a mug with proper ID). Flurrious! is a short walk from the Metro Rail (Humboldt stop). Here’s the slide show from last year’s festival:
