News of a Mighty Taco opening on Chippewa has Mexican fast food lovers salivating at the mouth. Although I can honestly say that I’ve only eaten at Mighty a handful of times, I have friends who grew up pledging allegiance to the brand. When we were younger, a couple of my friends would go a couple times a week, and while I was always an Elmwood Taco and Sub fan, they are, still to this day, diehard Mighty fans. Even if you’ve never eaten at Mighty, chances are that you’ve heard the commercials on the radio, and seen the ads on TV and in print. Their marketing campaigns are almost as legendary as their product… maybe more legendary.
Mighty Taco will be occupying the former La Luna location in the Calumet building. That should position them perfectly for the both the business lunch crowd and the late night party crowd. Come spring Mighty Taco fans will be able to load up on all of the burritos, empanadas and nachos that they can sink their teeth into. It looks as if the Mexican food battle is heating up, with Salsaritas a block down on Chippewa, Cantina Loco in Allentown, Sole in the Elmwood Village, Moe’s Southwestern Grill on Delaware, and the Chipotle chain moving steadily into Greater Buffalo – although not in the city yet.
