Ever wanted to look closely at someone’s transitional move from the Big Apple to the Queen City on the Lake? I’m not talking about an expat moving home (which is also nice), I’m talking about a gal from The Bronx who found herself in school in Buffalo NY, and during her visit she has decided to log the ins and outs of the city, and how it relates to NYC (through her own eyes). What I like most about the blogger that I am referring to is that she has thrown all preconceived notions out the window and is looking at Buffalo at face value. From her blog called ‘From NYC to Buffalo‘:
A New Yorker (that’s me) born and raised in the NorthEast Bronx — now I find myself living in Buffalo to complete my masters in Urban Planning. Little did I know that I would actually like Buffalo and now dabbles with the idea of making it my home. Lets see if two years in Buffalo influences me to leave the concrete jungle and become a (clears throat) permanent resident.
Learn about fashion, architecture, Occupy Buffalo, and weather, as seen through the eyes of a New Yorker who is looking to take on Buffalo. And ultimately, learn first hand what her final decision will be once she completes her studies… will she decide to take the leap and stay?
A bit more from her blog:
When I told all my friends and family members that I decided to go to Grad School in Buffalo they all questioned my sanity. “Why Buffalo?” “It snows there” (as if it does not snow anywhere else and as if it snows all year round) “Just go to school in NYC” “There nothing to do in Buffalo” “Buffalo is a dangerous place.” Of course prior to my decision I had did some research on Buffalo and saw that there was some level of vibrancy in the area. But with all of this negative feedback from many New Yorkers and even some people in other states I became weary.
Now having lived in Buffalo for five months I am happy with my decision. Granted I have not experienced a winter in Buffalo but I have definitely experienced a summer in Buffalo and it was awesome. So throughout this blog you will see what I see in Buffalo, hear my rants and opinions, and learn what I learn as I get to know Buffalo every day. Since I just started blogging, I will randomly post pictures from this summer in Buffalo to keep some summer hope while we deal with the upcoming winter slope. So 638 days left until I make a decision to stay or leave Buffalo. Stay tuned New Yorkers and Buffalonians.
