The Star‘s Richard Ouzounian has gone out of his way to point out myriad cultural related destinations in WNY for Torontonians planning on heading to Buffalo to shop on this Black Friday (see article). He has done so, in part, to remind his readership that while heading to the outlets and malls might be ‘the prize’, there are plenty of offshoot destinations that are equally rewarding.
“But there’s a lot more you could consider doing in Buffalo this weekend, to have a good time, broaden your mind and remind yourself that man does not live by 75% off sales alone.” -RO
Some of the cultural hotspots that Richard suggest his readers set their sights on include Darwin Martin House, Graycliff (photo – celebrating ‘Orange Friday’ today as a reminder of the dramatic fall foliage), Shea’s (see Neil Garvey’s revue on The Nutcracker), Albright-Knox (150 Years of Visionary Collecting at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery), Burchfield-Penney and MusicalFare Theatre.
Next year, hopefully Richard will write about discovering all of the incredible retail shopping delights in districts such as Allentown, Hertel, Elmwood and Black Rock. Now that would be a long overdue and very welcome piece.
