Did you ever think that you would hear of a party that would celebrate the debt collecting business? I certainly didn’t. Even the mention of debt collectors can send a chill up the spine of the most ‘up and up’ people. At a time when the economy is down, the debt collections business is on the rise, and there are some in the industry that are ready to party. “You recently highlighted our acquisition of 67 W Chippewa in the entertainment district,” Adam March of Debt Management Partners emailed me. “We are holding our first major event at the Pure Nightclub on November 4th to honor and embrace Buffalo collections, the event is called Recovery Rehab. We currently have 36 agencies and their employees scheduled to attend as well as a number of vendors and associated companies. My intention is to break down some barriers that exist in the image and perception department, as well as the lack of communication amongst local companies, and create a better industry as a whole through mutual communication and networking.”
As long as our credit is in good standing, then we should be happy to have this sort of growing industry in Buffalo. Heck, even if you’re being hounded by debt collectors, it’s not like the closer they are the easier it is to get you to pay… gone are the days of some brute showing up at your door with a baseball bat. The collections business is good for Buffalo and provides a lot of jobs. Of course there are some debt collectors who have given a bad name to the industry due to abrasive and sometimes illegal tactics, but for the most part this is a legit industry and that’s why Debt Management Partners is hosting this unprecedented event.
The $5 cover charge will be waived at the door in exchange for a business card.
And don’t worry… it’s not a sting.
