By Sarah Bishop:
Buffalo First! welcomed the change of season by launching its annual pledge drive, “Put Buffalo First!,” in an effort to raise awareness and community support for the organization’s stated mission of building a more just, sustainable and local economy in Western New York.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11th, Buffalo First! will host a fundraiser at Chow Chocolat, 731 Main Street in Buffalo, starting at 6pm.
On Main St. is an homage to the future we envision and work to create – where businesses are investors in the quality of life for all citizens and are both challenged and supported to build profitable enterprises that simultaneously serve community needs, share wealth, and protect the environment.
“We want to showcase what’s great about ‘Main Street businesses,’ like Chow Chocolat,” explains Buffalo First!’s Andrew Delmonte, also a local musician performing at the event. “The unique products, the sense of place, the positive impact these places have on the local economy, and the inclusion of members of the community. These businesses can be a concert hall, a meeting place, or a dependable neighbor on any given day of the week.”
The event will feature live music from local artists: The Albrights, Andrew Delmonte, Brooke Reynolds, Jon Herr and Kate Panfil.
“There is an obvious symbiotic relationship between local musicians and independent businesses. We understand that our success is directly linked to one another,” said John Herr. “As such, it’s only befitting to be playing for On Main St. in a show of solidarity with Buffalo First! and their work.”
Additionally, a wine tasting with complimentary Chow Chocolat confectionaries will be provided, Buffalo First! board member Erica Eichelkraut’s photography will be on display and items for raffle from local businesses including, City Lights Photography, Flying Bison Brewery, Fuse Salon and Gallery and Quaker Bonnet Eatery will be available.
Last, but not least, The Roycroft Inn has generously donated a $50 gift certificate to On Main St. It will be given to the person who goes the extra mile and brings the most people along with them (4 person minimum).
All proceeds raised at this event will go to Buffalo First! and, therefore, right back into your community.
Tickets are $15 presale for not-yet-members, and $10 for Buffalo First! members and may be purchased here. All tickets will be $20 at the door.
