Comic book fans can rejoice once more as Comics Fest returns to the Central Library. On October 15 from 10am-4pm the downtown library will play host to super heros, space characters and everyone who loves them. The North Ridge FanForce, Buffalo’s local “Star Wars” Fan Club, will be on hand to demonstrate a light saber duel – that alone would be worth the price of admission (free). There will also be fun games, author talks, photo opportunities, crafts, a Riddler’s table, and of course plenty of comics and graphic novels.
Throughout the day there will be celebrities on-hand conducting signings, including award winning illustrator Nicholas Gurewitch (speaking on the “Art & Business of Comic Syndication”). Also present will be “noted comic historian and educator Mike Lavin who will talk about comic history and censorship, and Andrew Russo, who will forecast the future of comics in the online world.” An added attraction will be illustration demonstrations and costume making. The day is designed as an all-ages affair… meaning that you never know who is going to show up and what costumes they will be donning.
