Toy Train and Railroad History Expo @ Central Terminal

Anyone who has ever stepped inside the Central Terminal has dreamed of the days when the building was alive with the hustle and bustle of daily travelers as they passed through on their way to various destinations. Dodging the baggage handlers as they crisscrossed the main concourse as the train whistles announced arrivals and departures… sitting in the deco cafe waiting for a friend or a loved one… walking inside for the first time and marveling at the magnificence of the building – will the Central Terminal ever see another train grace its presence? With the clamor for high speed rail and renewed talks for an operational station of significance, there is hope that this station will one day be utilized for the very purpose that it was built.

In the meantime, Buffalonians can relive the days of glory – days when trains were not only in fashion, but were considered an integral form of transportation. Next weekend, grab your kids and head to the Central Terminal to relive the days of old. The Toy Train and Railroad History Expo has been drawing people back to explore the terminal, while viewing hundreds of models and photos at what has become the city’s largest toy train and memorabilia exhibit. Here are the details:

The exposition is scheduled for Saturday, September 10th and Sunday, September 11th from 10am to 4pm and takes place inside the Terminal’s historic passenger concourse located at 495 Paderewski Drive @ Memorial Drive.

Admission is $5 for adults with free admission for children under the age of 12. All proceeds from the show benefit the stabilization and restoration of Buffalo Central Terminal.
