By Bernice Radle:
Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 10am – 4pm

The Solar Homes and Green Buildings Tour is ALMOST HERE. On October 1, 2011 from 10am-4pm, you can go to any building on the list (see below) and learn about their green technologies. The tour is free and open to everyone. The kickoff awards party starts at 10am at the Innovation Center (details).

With 45 sites across WNY for you to visit, join over 1500 people in seeing the largest Green Building Tour in New York State! It is free and self guided.  You pick the sites you want to see. All the sites are open and the owners are waiting for you to come to talk about their home…
Join the Western New York Sustainable Energy Association at The Innovation Center 640 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY at 10am to kickoff the tour!
We will be giving away prizes, refreshments, the WNYSEA Green Building award and having a presentation on what the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus is doing to promote sustainability on the campus.
After the kickoff you can stay for the workshops (11 – 1pm) or go out and tour around the area.
We are delighted to give away 20 bus passes, provided by the NFTA for anyone who wants to bus around to the sights.  First come, first serve and they will be given out at the innovation center from 10am – 1pm.
This is the biggest green event in the WNY area and its free and fun! Why wouldn’t you want to go?

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
