As much as I tried to get a Finn McCool post up before the event, it just never happened. What’s Finn McCool you say? Well, I had heard bits and pieces about it being the ultimate run, with obstacle course, mud, ropes, slides, hikes, hops, hoops – all the while alongside hoards of other fun-loving folks at Caz Park. You know, sometimes these events sound too good to be true, and when you get to the course it’s a letdown. Not with Finn McCool. Not only did the 4-mile odyssey look like a blast, it was followed up by the South Buffalo Irish Festival – talk about a sweet double-header.
How do I know what running the race looked like without being there myself? Well, Jason Mendola ran it with a head-cam on. I just took a look at the video and decided to post it in hopes that next year more people put this amazing race on their list of outrageous things to do. Both events celebrate being Irish, or at least being Irish for the day… needless to say there were many beers consumed after race. With thirteen major obstacles over the course of four miles, followed by a lot of beer drinking, this has got to be one race that stands out from the rest. Just take a look for yourself:
