Pets are a blessing to many of us. Lots of them enjoy a life free of anxiety, full of naps and play with the people they love, and we could conclude that they are already blessed. That said, the Christian church, when it annually remembers St. Francis of Assisi, often pauses to also remember one of his loves: animals.
Lafayette Church would like to invite you to have your pet blessed this Sunday, October 2, on our Elmwood lawn at 4:30pm this Sunday. If you want a particular Christian and/or Trinitarian blessing, you may ask for one, or you may simply have your pet blessed in the name of God, and interpret that word as you see fit.
All kidding aside, you can make this even as spiritual and/or as fun as you wish. The actual ceremony is brief, and any pet/and or owner can receive an individual blessing at its conclusion. In the event of rain, please come inside via the Elmwood door. For the safety of all the people and animals involved, please make sure your pet is properly leashed/crated/bowled/etc.
