464 Gallery owner, Marcus Wise, has done it again. Tonight, Friday, August 12, he will introduce his newest contribution to the Arts Community in Buffalo. Studio 464, which will be located upstairs from 464 Gallery and offers rental workspaces available to local artists. It is a clean and serene area where creativity and spirited inventiveness is fostered.
Studio 464 was previously a 4-Bedroom Apartment that has been converted into four individual studio spaces with access to a full kitchen, full bathroom, attic storage, and a large open common area.
Wise adds that the 1000+ square foot common area can be rented by the public for any various events. He offers the open space for workshops, speaking events, photo shoots, classes, etc.
“I have traveled a lot and know how the power of art can change a community. I have seen how the artist compound mentality can craft something cool. This is a great space, that hopefully will become like a second home to a stable of artists that share a similar vision,” Wise said.
In the midst of the unveiling of the new studio space, 464 Gallery will host its 3rd Annual Members show in the Gallery from 6pm-11pm.
The members show is called “Current,” and will display one new piece of art from many of the more than 100 members affiliated with the Gallery.
The event will include free refreshments and music starting at 9pm by soloist The Waz, whose music reflects “a soundtrack for science fiction mixed with world percussion rhythms and trance-dance beats,” and additionally the backroom of the gallery has undergone a facelift to promote a further pure and welcoming space for viewing the local oeuvre.
The majority of the members with art of display will be attending; Wise (who usually lords over his domain from behind the display case) can introduce and associate you with any of the artists.
“Why buy [the old classics] when you can support a local artist and meet and talk to them in person? You can be a part of their energy…and their prices are more affordable,” Wise said.
The Current Show will be on display until August 25th. For more information on 464 Gallery, Studio 464, or upcoming events please go to: 464 Gallery.
