Elmwood’s Village Beer Merchant has become a staple for beer lovers all over the city. Since its opening we have seen a few secondary short-lived concepts introduced such as sales of culinary gadgets and the opening of a deli. In recent weeks, the business has been experimenting with stocking different cheeses – something that I hope it sticks with in hopes that it eventually becomes an integral part of the business. More that anything else however, customers have been coming in asking for home brewing supplies.
In the next few weeks, the Village Beer Merchant will be ordering and stocking home brewing supplies, including specialty kits, different kinds of grain, equipment by the piece, ingredient kits and complete kits. At first, the selections will be dictated by what is most popular, but as business grows so will the specialty selections. On top of home brewing supplies, there are plans to host home brewing demonstrations and seminars. I’d say that this part of the operation has been a long time coming and will be welcome news for the Buffalo beer brewing community. It’s just the perfect fit for the growler-filling micro beer community. By the way, I’m really digging the new growler koozies that are in stock. And for you non-beer drinkers out there, be sure to fill up a growler of Flying Bison lemonade – it’s delicious!
