Toronto magazine, City Bites, has thrown a bit of Buffalo love our way in the form of a culinary visit (see here – page 27 to 29). The magazine is also distributed in the Sunday Globe and Mail. For the first time that I can remember, Buffalo is starting to appear on the radar of Toronto media sources, and that’s a good thing because if we’re talking about marketing our city, Toronto is our low hanging fruit. So is Rochester… and Hamilton for that matter. Maybe Richard Florida (Theory of the Creative Class) should have renamed Torbuffchester… Torbuffchesterton. Now that really sounds like a mega region.
Any time that we can get a boost in Toronto, the better. Writer Ivy Knight has been exploring the culinary scene in Buffalo for a while now, and she is set on delivering the goods to her fellow Torontonians. After all, navigating the likes of Shango, Parkside Candy, Sweet_ness 7, Blue Monk, Old Pink, Sample, Tempo, Trattoria Aroma and The Mansion in person can be the best way to showcase the true flavors of our city. Thanks to Christa Seychew (Nickel City Chef, Feed Your Soul, Buffalo Spree) for being an incredible liaison and spokesperson for Buffalo’s food scene.

About City Bites:
City Bites is unique. We are the only magazine dedicated solely to covering the Toronto food and drink scene. We know that the only thing our readers love as much as sitting down to a great meal is reading and talking about their next one. And if you’ve got a must-see restaurant or an intriguing product, there’s a good chance they’ll love that too. 25,000 copies of City Bites are distributed free to subscribers of the Monday Globe and Mail across the city. Globe and Mail readers are overwhelmingly affluent, professional and food-conscious: In comparison to the average Torontonian, Globe and Mail readers are:
2.5 times more likely to have eaten at a high quality restaurant 4+ times in the past 30 days,
2.3 times more likely to spend $20+ on a bottle of wine, and
Twice as likely to have visited a wine store 4+ times in the past 30 days.
As well, 86% of Globe and Mail readers are Managers, Professionals and Senior Management, and 82.7% of readers own their own home.
Another 7,500 copies of City Bites are distributed at more than 200 food-and-drink oriented businesses throughout the city, with an additional 2,500 copies distributed directly to customers of Grocery Gateway.
