Prejudice against Buffalo? C’mon! OK, maybe there are some people out there who have a few preconceived notions about Buffalo… and I bet that many of them live in Toronto. Just take it from Torontonian Adrian Brijbassi. Growing up in Toronto, the writer, who now writes for the Toronto Star, always felt that Buffalo was good for one thing: bashing.
“I’ve done it, too often making fun of the city and — as I discovered this weekend — doing so without ever really getting to know it.”
Here’s an interesting read featuring a great back-and-forth with a US border guard. A single Torontonian’s inner-conflict as he battles his bias against Buffalo. After all, if you spend your life bullying a classmate that you feel is inferior to you, there ultimately comes a time to grow up. It sounds as if Adrian not only grew up a little bit, he’s telling others to do the same.
As much as this is a welcome article, the comments at the end of Adrian’s own page are unprecedented.
