The Theatre of Youth will be bringing a band of pirates to Allentown to celebrate the opening of “How I Became A Pirate” on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m.  The play will also be shown during matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through May 22.

There will be a special brunch held at the Quaker Bonnet Eatery on Sunday, May 15 for families to meet the cast of the show.  The brunch will feature a pirate-themed menu of Pirate Pancakes, Scallywag Scramble, Plank Potatoes, Shipshape Salad, Sandy-wich, Grog (green orange juice), Pirate Poison (blue milk) and Sea Sludge (coffee).  Parents and their children are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt and other activities with the cast.  There will also be prizes and the chance to get autographs from the cast of How I Became a Pirate.

How I Became a Pirate is a musical tale that tells the story of Jeremy Jacobs, a young boy who has a gift for digging.  Captain Braid Beard recruits Jeremy to help him with burying treasure. At first, Jeremy loves living the life of a pirate.  However, he later learns that it’s the little things in life that should be truly treasured.
