The Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB) will be welcoming artists, arts professionals and arts supporters to Eddie Brady’s Tavern on Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. to participate in a little “artworking.”
This networking event is held on a quarterly basis and is meant to bring together the members of the local arts community to meet, mingle, and promote their ideas. ELAB will also be giving out more information about their organization and the events they will be hosting in the near future. Those interested can also sign up to become a member of ELAB at this event.
“ArtWorking brings together Buffalo’s diverse arts community, offering a time dedicated to those who want to grow their network and get support from others who are practicing or promoting the arts,” said event co-chair Dana Saylor. “Attendees can expect to meet a group of emerging artists and arts professionals who are friendly, collaborative, and fun! ArtWorking is all about mingling with creative people and those who like to support and promote the arts.”
Artist and event co-chair Rich Tomasello came up with the theme of “Momento” for this event. Those attending are asked to prepare and bring five small pieces to give out while they meet and network with their fellow artists and arts supporters. These items will serve as a much more creative, personalized version of a business card (and should be close to the same size). Anything from a tiny painting, collage, poem, or video on an iPhone will serve to show others who the person is, their work, their ideas, etc.
“Each time I have attended an Artworking event I have met some great people interested in the arts–not only the arts, but the City of Buffalo,” said Tomasello. “The people that attend Artworking events are people that want to see our already amazing art community grow. Artworking is a completely collaborative and fun atmosphere. If you support the arts or are active in the Buffalo art scene, come to Artworking.”
The event will start at 7 p.m. at Eddie Brady’s Tavern, located at 97 Genesee Street. It is free to attend and will include complimentary desserts from The Washington Market, music and a cash bar.
