Broadway Market Continues Easter Season With Peep Eating Contest

Easter Season is well underway at the Broadway Market and they will be keeping the fun going this afternoon with the Third Annual Peep Eating Contest.

The contest will start at 1 p.m. and will last for 60 seconds, with whoever eats the most of these marshmallow peeps being crowned champion.  The contest is free to participate in, but they ask that interested individuals sign up by logging into and filling out the online form. One can also register at the Broadway Market Information Table today starting at 9 a.m.

So far, Easter Season has been a success at the Market.  “Business is going really well. We were packed this past weekend and pretty busy all this week,” said Brandye Merriweather. “We have 60 additional vendors this year, 20 of which are brand new to the Broadway Market. We also have about 20 musical acts that will be performing over the Easter season. We have everything from polka, jazz, latin jazz, blues, reggae and classical.”

Shopping at the Broadway Market has become a tradition for many Buffalo residents at Easter.  They supply everything from butter lambs, to pierogis, fresh meats, baked goods, and crafts. “Patrons can expect all of their Easter favorites as well as new wineries, crafts, jewelry and food items,” said Merriweather.  “Plus photos with the Easter Bunny each day.”

The Market is open for extended hours during Easter Season.  Today they are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday April 17, they will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Monday through Wednesday, hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Thursday and Friday are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The day before Easter Sunday will be 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Although the Broadway Market is widely known for our Easter season, we host special events through out the year,” said Merriweather. “Customers can log on to or check out the Broadway Market Facebook page, we update it weekly with new events and happenings at the market.  We are also open regular hours (8am-5pm) on Dyngus Day (April 25) this year.”

The Broadway Market is located at 999 Broadway. For a full schedule of their hours and entertainment list, call (716) 893-0705 or check out the website.
