Bales Clothing will be hosting its second annual fashion show next week at Babeville @ Asbury Hall. “The Show: 2” will feature the Bales Clothing fall and winter collection for 2011, plus plenty of work from other local designers. The show is taking place on April 9 at 7 p.m. Selina Kaye will be the special guest host, with DJ Lopro providing music and Aalia “WBLK’S Lady K” Rosool singing the national anthem. With Gates Circle Wines and Liquor sponsoring the event, there will be a cash bar and refreshments, along with prizes and giveaways for all who attend.
In keeping with their mission of “providing opportunity to and for those seeking personal growth and prosperity, while inspiring others to follow their dreams,” Bales Clothing will be donating a portion of the funds to a very important local cause: Carly’s Club for Kids and Cancer Research. As part of Roswell Park, Carly’s Club works to help pediatric cancer patients and their families by providing them with educational programs, activities and other services to help make their treatment experience a little easier. In order to provide support to these families, they rely on donations from the community.
Tickets for the show at Babeville are $20 in advance for general admission and $30 in advance for VIP tickets. VIPs will receive special reserve seating and a goodie bag to take home. I moved to Buffalo to attend Canisius College in 2007 and began writing for Buffalo Rising as a journalism intern in 2010. Working with Newell and meeting numerous entrepreneurs, activists and everyday folks who were working to make their city better made a huge impact on my decision to stay here. After witnessing all the positive development and grassroots initiatives happening in neighborhoods throughout the city, I was inspired to pursue a term of service in AmeriCorps and a career in Buffalo's non-profit sector. I currently work in the housing department at the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of WNY and am excited to be a part of their ongoing efforts to revitalize the Broadway Fillmore neighborhood. I also volunteer as the project coordinator for Artfarms Buffalo. I continue to write for Buffalo Rising because I love having the opportunity to stay connected to those working toward positive changes for the Queen City.
