An Evening Of Dirty Jokes With RLTP

Road Less Traveled Productions is inviting you to leave your conservative side at home and come down to support your local playwrights with “An Evening of Dirty Jokes.”

At 7 p.m. on March 10, RLTP will be hosting this one-night-only event at The Wasteland Game Room.  The evening will feature comedy acts, live music, burlesque dancing and old-school arcade gaming.  RLTP Resident Playwright Jon Elston and Western New York stage icon Jimmy Janowski will be sharing the role of MC for the evening, performing their own “traditionally raunchy adult humor in the classic Borscht Belt tradition.”

“Jimmy and I will be working blue, individually and in tandem, in the spirit of the swanky comedy stylings of the Las Vegas Rat Pack,” said Elston. “I will definitely be the Dino to Jimmy’s Frank…or maybe the Jerry to his Dean.” Elston has promised that the jokes won’t be too over-the-top. “Only the most sophisticated and highest quality smut for our discerning patrons,” he said.

In addition to Elston and Janowski’s antics, guests can enjoy rock music from Nelson Starr and The Benjamins, Vaudevillian music and comedy from Adelhard Tannenbaum, and a burlesque performance by Western New York’s own troupe, The Stripteasers.  There will also be refreshments and plenty of classic video arcade games to play.

“The idea behind the evening is to treat the patrons to the kind of diverse and colorful smorgasbord of adult entertainment that hasn’t been readily available in a single package for a long time,” said RLTP Artistic Director Scott Behrend.  “Nowadays, you could go see a band, or a couple of stand-up comics, or a burlesque act, but ‘An Evening of Dirty Jokes’ will deliver all of that and more in a party atmosphere for a single ticket price.”

All proceeds from this event will go towards RLTP and its mission to promote the work of Western New York playwrights. Tickets will be $25 and are available through Ticketmaster’s website or by calling 1-800-745-3000. The Wasteland Game Room is located at 700 Main Street, next to Studio Arena Theater, in the downtown theatre district.  For more information, visit the RLTP website or call 716-629-3069.

I moved to Buffalo to attend Canisius College in 2007 and began writing for Buffalo Rising as a journalism intern in 2010. Working with Newell and meeting numerous entrepreneurs, activists and everyday folks who were working to make their city better made a huge impact on my decision to stay here. After witnessing all the positive development and grassroots initiatives happening in neighborhoods throughout the city, I was inspired to pursue a term of service in AmeriCorps and a career in Buffalo's non-profit sector. I currently work in the housing department at the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of WNY and am excited to be a part of their ongoing efforts to revitalize the Broadway Fillmore neighborhood. I also volunteer as the project coordinator for Artfarms Buffalo. I continue to write for Buffalo Rising because I love having the opportunity to stay connected to those working toward positive changes for the Queen City.
