Having guided the USA Olympic Hockey Team to the Silver Medal and winning the Vezina trophy in 2010, it’s safe to say that Buffalo Sabres Ryan Miller has reached “rock star” status to sports fans across North America. Ryan Miller and many other “rock stars” will abound this Sunday night at Catwalk for Charity “A Reason to Rock” – a tribute to the rock n’ roll scene of the late 1970’s and early 80’s.
Proceeds from this star-studded event, happening at the Town Ballroom in downtown Buffalo, go to Miller’s Steadfast Foundation, which assists families and children affected by the complexities of cancer. Attendees are encouraged to rock it out, by dressing in attire that pays homage to one of rock n’ roll’s most exhilarating times. Prizes will be awarded for attendees who best dress the part.
This is a party that can be compared to the swanky affairs you see on E! Entertainment Television or in People Magazine. It’s no wonder then, that Ken Baker, E!’s Chief News Correspondent, will be in the audience checking out the scene. Other notable guests will include actor Zack Ward, who played Scut Farkas in the seminal 80’s classic movie A Christmas Story. Actor Chris McDonald, who is most noted for his role as Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, as well as actor/producer Timothy Busfield (Revenge of the Nerds, Thirtysomething). Of course, you never know you’ll run into at Catwalk, it’s considered by many to be the “party of the year.”
As with the previous four editions of the Catwalk for Charity, the Town Ballroom will be filled to capacity with Buffalo’s A list crowd of sports stars, celebrities, socialites, business leaders…and of course, Miller and his Sabres teammates. Buffalo’s top restaurants will be serving their favorite dishes at food stations throughout the venue. The event features an incredible silent and live auction including one-of-a-kind items, which is a show all in itself. For many, the highlight of the evening is watching the Sabres players strut down the catwalk, playing off this year’s theme of 70’s and 80’s rock. More than Me and Nik and The Nice Guys will provide live music that will take the party deep into the evening.
The opening chords of this affair crank out at 6:00 p.m. The entrance of this event will be off the Washington Street side of the venue.
A very limited amount of tickets are available by visiting the Steadfast Foundation’s website www.steadfastfoundation.com.
