Most of us already know that Mark Twain, one of America’s most important writers, once lived here in Buffalo. 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of Twain’s death, and the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library has found a number of ways to celebrate the writer, whose original Adventures of Huckleberry Finn manuscript is part of the Central Library’s permanent collection.
Saturday, September 25th, a free lecture will be held featuring Dr. Robert H. Hirst, co-editor of the newly-released leather-bound Mark Twain in Buffalo. The book contains a collection of letters and documents from Twain’s life in Buffalo. Dr. Hirst is the Official Curator of the Mark Twain Project and Papers, which is kept at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also the editor of Who is Mark Twain?, a selection of Twain essays which were previously unpublished.
