By Chris Catanzaro:
Come row, swing or throw out cancer! We will celebrate and show our support for all those who battled and continue to battle this disease…and hopefully, raise some money in the process. On September 19, 2010, community members and friends will gather to support a great cause… cancer patient support and research. This is the first year the event will take place, but we are hopeful to make it a yearly happening. The fundraiser will feature a co-ed softball tournament and co-ed kickball tournament in Cazenovia Park, as well as a Regatta down the Buffalo River.
The event is threefold in its mission: raise awareness and money for cancer patient support and research, promote the great recreational activities available in at Cazenovia Park and The Buffalo River and celebrate the lives of those past and present who have battled cancer. It is sure to be a great day in support of a great cause. This year’s proceeds from the event will benefit The Steadfast Foundation, founded by Buffalo Sabres goalie, Ryan Miller. Be sure to check out their mission at www.thesteadfastfoundation.com.
There are openings for the following events: 2 Mile/2 Person Regatta along Buffalo River (Starts at 1:00 pm) or Co-ed Kickball Tournament at Cazenovia Park (starts at 8:00 am). There will be a Co-ed Softball Tournament at Cazenovia Park. Drink specials, outdoor games such as Kan-Jam and televisions for the Bills game will be featured at Charlie O’Brien’s.
It is sure to be a great day to celebrate those that survived, commemorate those that have been lost and enjoy the outdoor activities available at one of Olmsted’s finest parks. Contact Chris Catanzaro via e-mail, chriscatz6@hotmail.com, with any questions.
