Each year a group of dedicated and empowered individuals bring World on Your Plate to Buffalo, a seminar that unites people who have concerns about the politics, safety and ethics surrounding food. It’s an interesting event and one where all types of foodies assemble to learn and discuss the details surrounding the very intricate arena of how food is grown, made, distributed and consumed.
This year, in addition to the event’s traditional offerings of education and information, a healthy lunch and the opportunity to network, WOYP will feature keynote speaker Anne Blyth Lappe, author of Diet for a Hot Planet. Lappe is a much-sought after public speaker who is recognized for her work on sustainability, food politics and social change.
Guests pay only $25 (pre-registration required, $30 at the door) for access to the two-day seminar. A vegan dinner reception and screening of Living Downstream takes place on Friday, October 8th. Saturday, October 9th is the main event, featuring workshops that cover a huge range of topics (“Eating as Activism”, medicinal plants, composting, etc.) and the keynote address.
