We had other plans for a Food post today, but as I was editing photos, an email popped into my inbox. It reflects sentiments that I have heard from many friends and industry folks over the last few days, and echoes the kind of support we saw follow the unfortunate incident at Merge last winter. It comes from Lukia Costello, a Buffalonian seeking to support the downtown community and the owners and staff of City Grill restaurant following last weekend’s tragic shooting.
“As of August 16th, I launched a FB causes page: “Support City Grill’. My idea in doing so
was to offer encouragement and support to the owners. So far, we have 122 supporters registered.”
The Facebook page goes on to state:
“Maybe you have heard or seen the story.
I have cried for everyone involved while wondering what I could do to help.
I
am honored to say I know the owners of City Grill. They are good people
who have poured their cash and dreams into a venture because they love
our city and they love good food. They have sweat out the economic
downturn worried, yet committed, by working long hours and wearing all
hats.
Just like anyone, they are confused. With the event still
very fresh, they are dealing with emotions and repercussions for which
no one could be prepared. Struggling to make sense, and figure out how
to rebuild their lives under the, at times, dehumanizing spotlight of our national
press, they are at a crossroads and need our help.
Join me in
sending a message of support to the owners and staff of City Grill, our
nation and our downtown business community by making a reservation
(716-856-2651) and spreading the word.
Needless, senseless, devastating circumstance need not end anyone’s dream or our city image.”
Lukia asks that you join in lending your support to this downtown eatery. You can do so by joining the Support City Grill Facebook page, and by making a dinner reservation.
