Emerging Leaders in the Arts – Buffalo (elab) would like you to know that they are hosting a monthly Art Lab that is designed to create an atmosphere conducive to fostering artists and their careers. The constructive dialogue comes in the form of helpful critiques and information sharing – stimulating productive discussions and evaluations of works of art that sometimes only art-minded people can offer. “Art lab is a great resource for local artists working in any medium,” said Marcus L. Wise of 464 and Blink Art Galleries. “This monthly event offers us a forum in which we can continue to develop our artistic and professional development through meeting with a broad array of artists across the community. Art Lab encourages constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement whether the feedback be about a photographic collection, a new poem, a piece of interpretive dance, or the design of your new business card.”
Starting this Thursday, August 12th from 7-10pm, 464 Gallery will be introducing art-minded people to Art Lab. The ‘artworking’ environment will introduce two artists – graphic designer and illustrator Jonathan Furman of Nuthatch Design and Ernest Wlostowski. The artists are looking forward to meeting their peers and learning from those who must travel down the same roads to make it in what can be a demanding and unpredictable career path. It’s a great way for artists to get the feedback that they need while allowing other artists to reverse roles and explore their own sense of what it’s like to be on the other side of the ‘canvas’.
