Are you a animal-lover? Do you go gaga over every furry four-legged friend that you come across? Do you find yourself searching for canine photos on the Internet – you know the cute ones where they’re all dressed up in funny-looking costumes? If so, then there is an event coming up that you cannot miss! It’s called Run for Rover, and it’s a charitable event to raise money for pet owners who can’t afford the costs of taking care of their sick dogs (www.PetEmergencyFund.org).
Even if you’re not obsessed with dogs, Run for Rover offers a lot more than pet parades and celebrity look-alike contests. Along with a one-mile walk for pets and their owners, there is a 5K race for runners and a 100-yard race for kids. After the 5K (certified by USA Track & Field) there will be a lunch served. Canine owners can look forward to ‘paw-lates’ exercise sessions, a complimentary dog wash and live music. This is the fourth year that Run for Rover has come to LaSalle Park. Each year the event grows bigger, offering more and more fun-filled events for people and their pets.
*Registration for runners begins at 8:30 am on race-day with the 5K commencing at 10 am. The pet walk begins at 11 am. The pet costume contests start at 11:30 am and will be judged by local pet-lover and “AM Buffalo” host Linda Pellegrino. Returning to “Run for Rover” events this year is the 100-yard race for kids. Entry forms are available by contacting Timm Otterson at timmotterson@yahoo.com.
