Located in the Community Gallery on the second floor of the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society, this evening’s reception benefiting Autistic Services Inc. will feature wine, cheese and the backdrop of the museum’s latest exhibit, “Perceiving Buffalo.”
The installation, which has been on display since July 1st, features work from four of ASI’s Arts Work program. Showcasing the artists’ interpretations of iconic Buffalo landmarks and community figures, some of the portraits feature beloved Buffalonians such as Ani DiFranco and Tim Russert. One image depicts three local newscasters (see lead image). In addition, there is a series of drawings of Buffalo public school buildings.
Autistic Services Inc. promotes the awareness of autism and provides treatment, education, and care for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. The Arts Work Program is part of the ASI’s individual therapy rooted in the creation of visual arts.
