Two years ago, London Vs New York played their last show. They had been playing what I called (in those halcyon days of 2008) their “smart lyrics mixed with fierce accompaniment and unconventional rhythms…an unmistakable modern punk sound that is as cohesive as it is chaotic” through eager, excited, ear drums across the city. Then they disappeared for a while. Nick Gordon did some solo work shortly thereafter, but nothing from the quartet surfaced until this past February, announcing new tracks, and eventually a new bassist.
Nick Gordon (guitar & vocals), Stephen Goss (vocals), and Tim Staszak (drums), are joined by new bassist Chase Middaugh of Novelist and mutus liber, on the stage at Soundlab tonight (6/15/10). They’ll be playing some face-melting rock from their LP “Words and Behavior” with a twist which Goss calls “their new sound,” some hints of which you can hear and download on their site.
Opening for Jeff The Brotherhood, with Hunger Anthem, London Vs New York begins at 8pm. Tickets are $12. You can find more information about Soundlab and the other shows on the bill by clicking here.
