Round up the kids, the girlfriend, or the dog and get ready for
another beautiful summer weekend in Buffalo. This weekend gives you the
chance to travel beyond Delaware and Allen (if you had enough at last
weekend’s Art Festival) and onto Amherst Street.
The Grant-Amherst Business Association is hosting the 13th annual
Rediscover Amherst Street festival this Saturday. They’ve attracted
thousands of people to the street each year since the shindig started,
propelled by the reopening of Amherst Street in 1997 after construction
forced the street temporarily closed.
Just a stone’s throw from Elmwood, adjacent to Buffalo State College,
Amherst Street is the backbone of a neighborhood kept alive by the hard
work and dedication its residents. Both the neighborhood and business
association work relentlessly to improve their neighborhood, with the
heart that leads us all to believe our city can rise again.
Come down and check out all the changes and growth that have occurred
in this pocket of Buffalo’s cityscape–its growing assortment of unique
small businesses and galleries. You can also meet the people that are
making it
happen. They’ll all be there.
Hop on a free trolley and head a mile down the street to
St. John’s Strawberry Festival, or check out highlights of some of the
other things they’ll have
