By Team BEN:
The Buffalo Expat Network (BEN) coordinators (“Team BEN”) have proven themselves to be a fast-mobilizing and action-oriented group of individuals in a short amount of time.
Fresh out of the gate with the launch of BEN in February, Team BEN decided to implement some initiatives to demonstrate that they walk the walk, and don’t just talk the talk, about heightening expats’ participation with Buffalo. One example was the launch of BEN’s Buffalo Revisit(ed) Weekends, a “curated” weekend of activities organized monthly by Team BEN to encourage expats to return to Buffalo, attend cultural events and deepen their engagement with organizations and causes in Buffalo. Team BEN works diligently to ensure Revisit(ed) Weekends offer a diverse set of activities, from gallery tours to nature hikes to sports outings. The current plan is to extend these weekends through late fall.
Although each Revisit(ed) Weekend will vary in terms of activities, Team BEN plans to have a staple event during each Weekend: a cocktail mixer for expats, repats and residents. The aim of BEN mixers is to create more alliances between expats who return home and the many great residents who are on the ground-all of whom are passionate about Buffalo. BEN strives to provide a meaningful, significant and memorable takeaway for the event attendees: connections that can pave the way for future collaborations.
BEN’s second signature mixer, as part of its upcoming Buffalo Revisit(ed) Weekend, will take place Saturday evening at 7 pm at the Allen Street Hardware, featuring cocktails, mingling and remarks by its owner Mark Goldman, Buffalo author and historian.
