Hertel Avenue – Spring Cleaning!

Tomorrow, Saturday the 1st the North Park Community Association will be participating in the Great American Cleanup by hosting its first (hopefully annual) Hertel Avenue street cleanup. The heart of North Park is Hertel’s commercial strip. Spring is finally here so it is time for the community to get together, put winter behind us, and spruce up our commercial street for the warm weather. We want our commercial street to be in tip-top shape to support and attract new visitors and patrons for its businesses. This is one way that we can start the year off on the right foot.

We would like to thank both the City of Buffalo and the Hertel North Buffalo Business Association for their support. We will be meeting at the public parking lot at the corner of Norwalk Ave. and Hertel Ave. at 9:30am to organize and send out teams to different locations. We are hoping to clean up all of Hertel between Starin and Delaware Avenues. Please consider helping out for just a couple hours in the morning. Garbage bags will be provided but please bring your own gloves, as well as any shovels or brooms.

How about posting this more than 18 hours in advance? If whomever posted this received this 20 hours in advance, how about the organization makes sure the information is passed along at least a week in advance to allow people to allot their time accordingly. Is common sense completely obsolete?

We were hoping to get the post on a little earlier, but ran into some technical issues leading to the delay. It shouldn’t happen again.
The good news is we had a very successful day and a pretty decent turn out considering all the other events today.
If you would like to keep up to date on our activities, please check out our Facebook page at:

Sorry you weren’t able to make it. Hope to see you at our next meeting (May 19th @ Cafe Allegro).

Looks like I just missed this year’s, but I’ll be there for next year’s event!

Glad it turned out well — wish I’d known about it, but thanks for sharing the website and FB info. Looking forward to seeing some more community events in North Buffalo!

The Hertel North Buffalo Business Association, including myself would like to say thank you very much to Matthew and all the volunteers who helped clean Hertel Avenue during the Spring Clean Up and we would like to thank Daddio’s Pizza for being so gracious by donating pizzas for the volunteers. Everybody did a wonderful job and we hope the next clean up will be as successful, if not more.
